People Positive and Complexity Embracing
To further operationalise our approach, we use two foundational principles:
- People positive: people come to work to help achieve whatever the organization is trying to accomplish. People have adaptive capacities to deal with a variety of conditions, which are always changing, and (organizational) goal conflicts, which always exist. Also, people are the only ‘resource’ in the system to overcome mismatches between work as described and work as it is actually done;
- Complexity embracing: most organizations are comprised of people, technical tools and various processes. All these ‘components’ interact in complex ways to create the outcomes that we see. Embracing complexity means that you explicitly acknowledge that this interactive complexity is part of the messy, but normally succesful, operational reality.
